Senator Roger Reinert endorses Mayoral candidate Emily Larson at Chambers Grove Park event
“Three short years ago, the Fond du Lac neighborhood was ground zero of a natural disaster. By working together, we’ve moved this neighborhood – and the city – in a positive direction. Emily is a leader ready to continue and build upon that momentum,” said Reinert.
“As a Legislator, the single most important thing I want in the Mayor is someone who understands partnerships and teamwork. Emily has a proven record of gathering stakeholders and maintaining those relationships,” said the Senator. “A Mayor needs to have a vision, but it only becomes reality by working with others.”
Reinert went on to say that while he sees leadership qualities in Larson, he also appreciates her authenticity. “Emily Larson has it in abundance. She is warm, caring, and engaging. She draws people to her. That’s a skill set I want to see in my next Mayor.”
For Larson, the park is the start of Duluth, both in terms of geography but also in terms of the history of incorporation – the Fond du Lac neighborhood is the site of a significant Chippewa Indian settlement from the 16th through the 19th centuries – and an important reminder of the significance of working in cooperation with neighboring Tribal communities.
“This site means a lot to me. It’s a place that during the flood aftermath, required state and city partnerships for strong and steady collaborative leadership. It’s the location for a bike trailhead, funded by Legacy and Parks Referendum funds. And, it’s also the very first neighborhood I door knocked back when I first ran for council,” said Larson.
“I am grateful for Senator Reinert’s support and personal endorsement. As a lawmaker representing most of Duluth, he has insight into what it takes to both lead and govern. And that doing both well requires vision and collaboration.”
Emily Larson currently holds endorsements from former Lieutenant Governor Yvonne Prettner Solon, womenwinning and now Senator Roger Reinert.
